Code for Atlanta organizes our community to work on civic-minded, social good projects that make metro Atlanta more inclusive, diverse, equitable, and accessible.

Our virtual meeting place is Slack. We have a few channels for the entire community, and each project team has a dedicated Slack channel.

We hold virtual civic hack nights every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month, however hack nights are on pause. Join us on Meetup to register for our upcoming events.

We post regular updates and engage with the broader Atlanta community on Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

Many of our projects are on GitHub. Some projects use their own repositories. Connect with individual project teams to find out more.

Hi there! We're a Brigade of Code for America. We partner with local advocacy organizations and governments on civic-minded projects that make metro Atlanta more inclusive, diverse, equitable, and accessible.

We hold civic hack nights twice a month. We invite participants to bring their ideas to civic hack night and work with like-minded volunteers to bring those ideas to life. Our members have a diverse set of skills and backgrounds. We are software developers, designers, project managers, data scientists, policy wonks, and subject-matter experts.

Our operating principals are:

  1. Solve real problems. We solve problems that real people have, we make sure what we build works for them, and we continuously improve it.

  2. Work with, not for the people we serve. We start with our users, the people affected by the service, and understand and respect their needs throughout the process.

  3. Work lean, iterate quickly. We get a working minimum viable product in front of users as early as possible and make continuous improvements based on how they use the service.

  4. Non-partisan, but not neutral. We are an alliance of non-partisan groups, but that non-partisanship does not imply neutrality.

  5. Default to open. We work in the open and collaborate with the community to help make programs and services better for everyone.
